What is an Enrolled Agent (EA)? (back)
An Enrolled Agent is a professional tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and is licensed to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service at all administrative levels. EA's are the only tax practitioners required by federal law to maintain their expertise through continuing education. If you need up-to-date tax assistance, see an Enrolled Agent. Esta Klatzkin, founder of kNOw TAXES, has been an Enrolled Agent since 1980. Click here to learn more about our services.

Is all my personal information safe? (back)
The use of secure servers and browsers will encrypt the data traveling between our system and yours. Each client is assigned a unique account number which insures that no one can get access to your information unless you give it to them.

What is Electronic Filing(E-File) and do I have a greater chance of being audited by the IRS if I file that way? (back)
We transmit your returns to the IRS and your state electronically (via computer) rather than mailing them. You should receive your refund in about two weeks. It may be even faster if the refund is deposited directly into your bank account. The whole process of preparation and filing time should take about three weeks.

An audit of an E-Filed return is no greater than a paper filed return.

What do I do if I get an audit letter. Can you represent me? (back)
Yes, as an Enrolled Agent , the tax expert, we can represent you at the IRS without your presence. There is an additional cost for this service. As an added benefit, you can purchase our Audit Protection Insurance which is available to kNOw TAXES clients only. To learn about our audit protection services, click here.
